Help needed on a PC I built for a friend

Several months ago, I built a PC for a friend, and today I got it back 'cause "it didn't work". He isn't mad at me for it, since I am older than he is (I just turned 70) and I can blame old age. Anyhow, his PC won't start. Nothing will. CPU fan, nothing. At first I suspected a bad power supply, and I had a new one here at home so I plugged it in, and nothing. I had connected only the MB power four pin and main power 20 pin connector and fan connectors. The motherboard is a ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO, AM3 CPU (dual core) and everything is just pretty much generic stuff, Windows 7. And as I said earlier, his PC ran just fine up until now. After the PSU check, I made sure everything was plugged in securely. I did notice that the little green LED on the motherboard was blinking after the PSU was turned on, and I was pretty sure that it was supposed to be not blinking but the book doesn't address that, so Lord only knows. Anyhow, it has been quite a while since I showed my ignorance here, so I suppose it was inevitable I do it again, and so here I am looking for any help and advice you smart guys can offer. Thanks.
