My house was built in 1939. The walls and ceilings are all wood--not an inch of sheetrock is in this house (although I sometimes wish for it). The walls and ceilings had all been papered originally, but now the walls are paneled and the ceilings have the UGLIEST acoustical tile on them. What can I do? I do not want tiles on the ceiling. I have thought of paneling--like a beaded board-type--or maybe sheetrock and subtle texture. Would I have to take down the tiles? How would stripping the tiles and just going down to the original wood work? Or wallpaper? I really want some advice with these ceilings. My house is a little bunglow, and it needs something that goes with it. Thank you.
