Any viable alternatives to MythTV? (Linux)

I got the bug to ditch cable for OTA and invested in a http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hvr2250.html and huge HDD for my HTPC. I wanted to run linux because there's a lot of backend services I'd like to run and I find scripting, etc. easier than Windows. 10am Saturday I crawled into Mythbuntu and when I turned around and it was midnight and still not everything was working 100% and I am still dealing with crashes, driver incompatibilities, etc.

I want to like Myth but it seems like it might have peaked 4 - 5 years ago and there *should* be better alternatives by now. My concern is support. I have an issue with the OpenGL renderer but the bug I am having was opened three years ago and resolved a year ago with, "Must be a driver issue and our OpenGL dev has left the project to this won't get any attention."

There's some good alternatives to WMC for Windows but I'm not really interested in that angle. One option is XBMC "Frodo" with Myth as a backend but there's no stable pre-beta to test it out.
