Crosscompile lirc on ubuntu

Hello there,

I was wondering if someone could help me cross-compile lirc on ubuntu? I need to point lirc to the kernel source when building the modules. My question is what kernel source do I need? And which .config do I need to compile the kernel source with?

I have installed the toolchain gcc-arm-linux-gnueabi and I have downloaded the kernel source from https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux.git.

First I tried running: ./configure --host=arm-linux-gnueabi --with-kerneldir=/home/rpi/linux
This failed and after googling a bit I became aware that I needed to compile the kernel with right .config file.

I tried using the steps described at http://elinux.org/RPi_Kernel_Compilation but wasn't able to use the arch/arm/configs/bcmrpi_cutdown_defconfig, every time I tried to do "make oldconfig" I was brought to the standard kernel questionary where I had to fill out every question. I then tried copying the .config from a running target /proc/config.gz. With this config I was able to compile the kernel.

Next I tried to configure the lirc source with freshly compiled kernel, it got a bit further but now complained about some inconcistencies in the kernel source.

Best regards
Martin
