Mozilla Firefox downloading files with every opening...

Just noticed this over the past 3 days... Whenever I open up FF, it automatically downloads these small files.. the latest one is xyOj+KfX... As for type, generic listing as: File, Attributes: A. All of these are less than 1KB in size, pass through both Malware, and Kasperksy Pure (File, Web AV set to "high").

I recently did a complete uninstall of FF, using Revo Uninstaller Pro, deep clean (inc. registry). Reboot, clean download from mozilla's site, install and with the first opening of the program, the above mentioned file gets downloaded. It does not do anything that I can tell outside of sitting on my desktop and irritating me, but that's also a bit worrisome.

Anybody else having this issue? Suggestions, recommendations to make this stop?

And now, I suddenly get a pop-up saying I have chosen to open: Vs1AajBqpc0, which is application/octet-stream from https://www.youtube.com while on a news site....
